For those of you who have read XJDano’s post, you know I have decided to purchase his Metro. If you missed that post (there were some Kinja issues ... shocking) you can read about it !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I’m purchasing it in only the strictest sense of the word. I’m paying what basically amounts to a trifling, enough to get the man back home more or less.

Those of you with a keen sense of ... well ... sense, may be wondering why I would do such a thing. I have one very good reason, to beat it like a rented mule on rallycross courses.

The plan is to flat-tow it to the track, give it the beans, likely break it, bodge it back together, and repeat as many times as possible. My wife has mandated that the fun ends whenever the total spend hits $500.

Now I know what you’re thinking, “Yeah, yeah, yeah. You said free beer, get to the free beer.” The Metro’s second gear syncros are shot. XJDano has sourced a replacement trans from a junkyard. We could use some help swapping it in, among a few other things that need to be done.

So any Oppos who are willing to come work on this heap on Saturday, October 22nd, there will be free beer and some sort of tubed meat on the grill.
